FAQs
If you have a specific design in mind and can't find it on the website, it may be that it's been added to our archive and can still be ordered. Please email us at [email protected] to find out and if so, we can arrange an invoice to be sent
Ordering
1. Go to the mural you wish to purchase
2. Click 'Customise your mural' and add in your wall dimensions for an instant preview and costing
3. If you'd like to proceed, click 'Add to bag' and go to checkout
4. For any additional design manipulation requirements, please email details to [email protected]. Once purchased we will then provide a preview image of your mural before we manufacture it
6. At this point we're still able to tweak (for example we can flip, adjust the positioning of elements etc.) or reposition the design if required
7. We will only proceed with manufacturing your mural once you're happy and have approved the design
8. We can only provide 3 adjustments per mural. Any additional alterations after this will be subject to a £50 charge per revision
Design and manufacture time can take up to 3 working days from the point of customer sign off, due to the bespoke nature of our murals.
Once manufactured, delivery can then take up to 3 working days (UK only).
We can usually tweak designs, colours and offer bespoke options but there is a charge due to the time it takes the studio. Charges start at £200 and are then dependent on how complex the changes are.

Measuring your walls (or ceiling) for wallpaper or a mural is much easier than you might think. Here's our quick and easy guide on how to do it...
What you need to know
All of our murals are made bespoke to your wall measurements and then printed to order. We recommend always adding 5-10cm to both the width and height measurements to make sure we've got your walls (quite literally) covered. This will be of benefit especially if your wall(s) are uneven.
Determine your wall type and measure
First of all when it comes to measuring, determine your wall type. If you have a straight forward standard wall, lucky you! If not, we've got you covered...
Measuring a standard wall
Measure the full height and width and height of the wall excluding the skirting boards and/or coving.
Measuring a sloped wall
If you have a sloped ceiling or wall, ignore any slopes and measure the longest and widest part of the wall. The mural will be printed as a rectangle or square so during installation, you would cut away the section where the slope is.
Measuring a pitched Wall
Like when measuring a sloped wall, measure the longest and widest part of the wall and cut away the sloping sections during installation.
Measuring walls with obstacles
When a door, window or additional obstacle is on the wall, please still measure the width and height of the wall you want to cover. As the mural is produced as a rectangle or square, that area would be cut away during installation.
Measuring for wallpaper
We would always recommend ordering more rolls than you need when it comes to wallpaper as it will prevent any hold ups with the decorating time should you need more. We offer free UK returns so you can easily return if they go unneeded after all!
Measuring for a mural
A few extra things to note when measuring for a mural...
To make installation of our murals as easy as possible, they're all:
1. Quick and easy to install on the wall, as they use the 'Paste The Wall' application method
2. Easy to remove and simply peel off in one strip (no scraper or steamer required)
3. Easy to install with numbered panels starting with panel 1, and hang left to right
4. Are all a Straight Pattern Repeat
Measuring for Panel wallpaper
Our Panel Wallpapers allow us to be more creative due to the fact we can create designs unencumbered by traditional 52cm wide repeat sizes.
This means our designers can work to a much larger scale and create a much larger repeating pattern, which makes for a real wow factor when installed.
All of our panel wallpapers are paste the wall and super easy to hang (much easier than traditional wallpapers) and come in 52cm wide numbered panels to be hung in ascending order.
Please click the ‘how much do I need’ button to work out how many rolls you would need.
Our Mural Wallpapers come in 3 height options:
1.6m Height comes in 6 panels (312cm Wide)
2.5m Height comes in 4 panels (208cm Wide)
3.3m Height comes in 3 panels (156cm Wide)
*Height options cannot be used together - please opt for the height to suit the tallest measurement in your space
If your walls are greater than 3.3m in Height then not to worry as we can create a bespoke version for any size wall/s. Please get in touch with us at [email protected] for help and support.
We're here to help
We can create and move elements of the designs and fuse designs together to create a four wall seamless design too, as well as tweak designs to work around obstacles. Just get in touch with us at [email protected] and we'll be more than happy to help!

Practical advice
All of our wallpapers are 'Paste the Wall', meaning that the decorator should paste the wall and NOT the paper. We would advise a premium premixed tub of 'Paste the Wall' adhesive widely available online or at your local DIY store.
Nina likes to use Solvite Paste the Wall as it rolls on pink and dries clear!
*DO NOT use self-mix adhesives, all purpose or heavy duty paste as these are not suitable for our beautiful designs.
Wallpaper paste is not included with your wallpaper or mural order
Watch this YouTube video for more info.

Please use our roll calculator, which can be found on each of our wallpaper product listings.
Murals can be custom made to your measurements; just use our 'customise and buy' button on the product page. For any additional help with measurements, please get in touch with us at [email protected]
Border measurements are on each product listing; just measure the width of your wall to find out how many rolls you'll need
Please contact us for any help; we're always super happy to help work out how many rolls or panels you might need.

Prepping your walls for paint
1. Firstly remove any old wallpaper and loose paint, then fill and sand any imperfections or cracks
2. Next, clean the wall with detergent or sugar soap
3. On freshly plastered walls, make sure the plaster is completely dry first
4. Then, seal the plaster by giving your walls a 'mist' coat. You can do this by mixing three parts white emulsion with one part water however you should always check the manufacturers instructions first as ratios can vary
5. Apply your mist coat and leave to dry for at least 24 hours before applying your top coat
6. Apply your top coats

You've come to paint your walls but are wondering where to start? Just follow our easy steps to a perfect finish.
1. Firstly, make sure you have the correct equipment. We'd recommend the following items:
- Dust sheets to protect your flooring and furniture from splashes and spillages. Make sure you rest your brushes and paint tins on some thick cardboard so any large drips don't soak through your dust sheet onto the floor/furniture
- Angled paint brush
- Painters tape (if necessary)
- Small container
- Paint roller and tray
2. Next, prep your walls. Head to this handy blog post to find out how to properly prep before starting painting
3. Stir your paint thoroughly before decanting an inch or two into a smaller container for easier application when cutting in
Top tip: make sure to wipe off any excess paint from the paint tin rim to avoid the lid sticking

4. Start by 'cutting in' and work from the ceiling down
5. To cut in, use your brush to paint along the edges of the walls, ceilings, skirting boards, light fittings, sockets, switches, doors and windows. For straight lines you can either paint freehand or if you're not confident enough to paint a straight line, use painters tape to tape off the edges
Top tip: always remove painters tape when the last coat is still wet
6. Whilst your paint is still wet, use a roller to cover the larger areas
Top tip: line your roller tray with recyclable aluminium foil to save on washing up

7. Again, work from the ceiling down and roll up, down and across for even paint coverage
8. Allow the paint to dry properly (2-4 hours) before applying your second and final coat
Top tip: wrap your paint brushes and rollers in recyclable aluminium foil to avoid washing or drying out between coats. You can store them this way for up to 2 days

Prep is key to a perfect and long-lasting finish when it comes to decorating, so it's important you get it right. Follow our steps for prepping your walls correctly;
Prepping your walls for wallpaper
1. Firstly remove any old wallpaper and loose paint, then fill and sand any imperfections or cracks
2. Next, clean the wall with detergent or sugar soap
3. On fresh plaster and/or painted walls, "size" or "seal" the wall before wallpapering
4. This means making up a diluted solution of paste and liberally applying to the walls being decorated, then letting it dry. It will be absorbed into the porous plaster and will stop the paste being absorbed when it is applied
5. If your walls are a little on the old side or not in the best condition, we recommend that walls are cross lined using a good quality lining paper
6. Lining paper should be allowed to dry out completely before hanging the wallpaper
7. Turn the central heating off and ensure the room is well-aired during the application and drying time
8. Dark coloured papers may need their edges coloured with a crayon of a similar tone to avoid white edges showing
All our wallpapers are Paste the Wall, which means you paste the wall and not the paper. We advise a premium pre-mixed tub of 'Paste The Wall' paste (Solvite Paste the Wall paste has been tried, tested and proven to work with our papers) widely available online or at your local DIY store.
We advise to NOT use all purpose or heavy duty paste these are not suitable for our beautiful designs.
Wallpapers, Murals & Borders
Woodchip & Magnolia wallcoverings are washable and can be cleaned with a lightly dampened cloth and mild soap (without detergent), then dried immediately with a clean cloth.
Linen fabric
We recommend 180 degrees and 80 seconds dwell time
Machine wash at or below 30C
Do not bleach
Do not tumble dry
Iron at low temperature
Professional dry clean with any solvent except trichloroethylene
Velvet fabric
Please read this guide on how to care for our velvet fabric
Removing your paste the wall wallpaper and/or mural is super easy.
Simply peel it off, starting at a corner and pulling upwards. No soaking or steaming is required. Your wallcovering should come off in panels and leave little to no residue (making it great for renters!)
Our fabrics are not suitable for outdoor use. While they can give a perfect look to your furniture cushions, we advise bringing the cushions inside after use to ensure their longevity.
Yes, murals can be used to wallpaper an entire room. Please let us know beforehand so we can make sure that the mural design flows and wraps seamlessly around the room. Please also provide us with the width measurements of all the walls so we can assist you with the ordering process.
Our panel wallpapers come in rolls and are available in three height options:
1.6m (6 panels)
2.5m (4 panels)
3.3m (3 panels)
If your ceiling height is 2.5m or less, order the '2.5 meters x 4 panels' option.
For ceilings more than 2.5m but less than 3.3m, choose the '3.3 meters x 3 panels' wallpaper.
For ceilings higher than 3.3m, please contact us for a bespoke order tailored to your exact measurements.
*Height options cannot be used together - please opt for the height to suit the tallest measurement in your space
If your walls are greater than 3.3m in Height then not to worry as we can create a bespoke version for any size wall/s.
Please get in touch with us [email protected] if you need any help and support from the team
Our fabric is suitable for usage on headboards, cushions, occasional upholstery, general upholstery, contract upholstery, drapes, curtains.
Our fabrics come available in 3 finishes:
FR Treated
Standard FR treated fabric means that it's been match tested to ensure it won't burn with a match against it. This treatment is usually used in residential upholstery and commercial curtains and cushions etc.
CRIB 5 Treated fabric
This is when the fabric has been crib and match tested to ensure it will not burn with a match against it, plus a wooden stack called a crib is placed on the fabric and ignited. This treatment is usually used in commercial and hospitality environments.
Drapery
This is the untreated option, meaning the fabric has not been treated with any chemicals to protect it against burning; great for curtains in non-commercial settings.
Hanging instructions
All Woodchip &Magnolia wallpapers are easy to install, whether you hire a decorator, or choose to do the task yourself. If you need any advice or help contact us by email at hello@woodchipandmagnolia.co.uk or by phone on (44) 1254 241 100. Not only do we create and manufacture, we are also pretty good at hanging our wallpapers too.
1. Inspect every roll
Check that your wallpaper rolls are undamaged, that the design/colourway is correct and there are no defects.
No claim can be accepted for hanging wallpapers that have been cut and hung showing defects which were apparent at the time of hanging. If you feel there are any defects, please contact us immediately.
Please ensure there are enough rolls to complete the job.
Please note our wallpapers are printed to order, hence slight variations in colour can occur if ordered at different times.
2. Prepare your wall
Remove any old wallpaper and loose paint, then fill and sand any imperfections or cracks and clean the wall with detergent or sugar soap.
Ensure the walls are a light, even colour across the wall/s, particularly if using a lighter colour design. If the wall is not an even colour there is a chance there will be a shade difference on the wall.
Our wallpapers are not 100% opaque, hence we cannot be responsible for any show through or shade differences if the wall is not a light even colour.
We recommend the walls are cross lined using good quality lining paper. Lining paper should be allowed to dry out completely before hanging the wallpaper.
Turn the central heating off and ensure the room is well-aired during the application and drying time. Dark coloured papers may need their edges coloured with a pencil crayon of a similar tone to avoid white edges showing.
On recently plastered and/or painted walls, it is very important to 'size' or 'seal' the wall first. This means make up a diluted solution of paste and liberally apply to the walls being decorated and let it dry. This will be absorbed into the porous plaster and will stop the paste being absorbed into the wall when it's applied.
3. Use the correct paste
All of our wallpapers are 'Paste the Wall', meaning you paste the wall and not the paper.
We advise a premium pre-mixed tub of 'Paste the Wall' paste widely available online or at your local DIY store.
We recommend Solvite 'Paste the Wall' paste, as it rolls on pink and dries clear. Paste should be evenly applied to the wall to an area slightly wider than the width of the roll.
Do NOT use all purpose or heavy duty paste as these are not suitable for our beautiful designs.
Hang 1 length at a time using a plumb line if necessary.
Should any paste come into contact with the surface, it should be lightly dabbed off whilst still moist, using a clean sponge or soft cloth with no soap or cleaning liquids.
Paste can potentially damage the wallpaper and Woodchip & Magnolia cannot accept responsibility for paste marks or heavy handed abrasion damage caused by rubbing paste into the surface of the wallpaper, or vigorously rubbing the surface with an abrasive cloth.
3. Apply the wallpaper to your wall
The wallpaper can be hung dry from the roll left to right. Use ladders to get to the ceiling or coving and allow a little extra product e.g. 1-3cm at the top.
As you hang from the roll, lightly brush (using a clean and dry decorators brush) into place as you go down to the skirting board. Here you can lightly push the paper to the wall. Leave the roll on the floor or cut the lengths before you hang.
Ensure the paper is in the correct position and is vertically correct. Brush down the paper with a smoothing decorators brush, from the centre to the edges of the roll.
Cut the excess at the top and bottom with a knife or wallpaper scissors.
Working to the right of this 'first drop', paste the wall again allowing a few centimetres wider than the width of the wallpaper. You should see you don't need to get close to the first drop of wallpaper when doing this.
For the second drop, look to see where the paper matches (the point at which the design fits together along the edges of the wallpaper).
Starting at the top, match the paper as you hang it dry from the roll - lightly brushing the paper to the wall as you go. The paper will slide into place on the paste.
When you get to the bottom of the wall, check the pattern matches and that there are no gaps. If there are bubbles or mismatches, just loosely pull the paper back and brush it back down. The paper is forgiving!
4. Trim as before and you're done!
Repeat until the wall is covered. Don't worry about taking breaks or giving up for the night. You can pick up wherever you left off. Just make sure to reapply the paste. If leaving your paste overnight, make sure to cover it up.
5. Care
Our wallcoverings are washable using a lightly dampened cloth with a mild soap that does not contain detergent. Once cleaned, the area should then immediately be dried with a clean, dry cloth.
Not sure where to start when it comes to hanging your mural? Follow our easy instructions to make sure you get the expert finish your mural deserves.
Prepare your walls
The first thing you need to do before installing any type of wall covering is to prepare your walls. Doing so means your wall mural will have a long and healthy life and is key to the perfect finish.
Read this post on how to prepare your walls before decorating with wallpaper before hanging your mural.

Cut the panels
Your mural will come in a series of panels like the image above. Cut your panels where the cut lines are indicated (starting with number 1). This is the direction you will hang each piece of the mural.
All of our murals are 'paste the wall'. This means you paste the wall and NOT the paper. We would advise a premium premixed tub of 'Paste The Wall' adhesive widely available online or at your local DIY store. Nina loves to use 'Solvite Paste the Wall' paste in particular as it rolls on pink and dries clear (which can be extremely handy when it comes to decorating!) .
Please do not use self-mix adhesives, all purpose or heavy duty paste as these are not suitable for our beautiful designs.
Hang the panelsNext, hang each panel with a straight match from left to right, starting with panel 1. Ensure it's vertically straight (we'd recommend a laser level!), then smooth down and trim where necessary. Then, move on to the next panel! It really is as simple as that.

Design advice
If a paint colour is a match for one of our wallpapers, you will find it on the product page.
When ordering murals for areas like staircases or around corners, send us the renders and measurements, including full wall heights and those reduced by any panelling height present. Clearly communicate your desired mural layout, and we will calculate the amount of material needed and provide a detailed quote, including any applicable trade discounts.
A 'free match' design means that the wallpaper or fabric pattern does not require precise alignment at the edges during installation. This feature simplifies the installation process, as it offers more flexibility in placement.
