Prepping your walls for paint

1. Firstly remove any old wallpaper and loose paint, then fill and sand any imperfections or cracks

2. Next, clean the wall with detergent or sugar soap

3. On freshly plastered walls, make sure the plaster is completely dry first

4. Then, seal the plaster by giving your walls a 'mist' coat. You can do this by mixing three parts white emulsion with one part water however you should always check the manufacturers instructions first as ratios can vary

5. Apply your mist coat and leave to dry for at least 24 hours before applying your top coat

6. Apply your top coats
